Artist's statement
My recreation of Hong Kong through these intriguing and vibrant images of the city's buildings as reflections of themselves colliding in surreal forms have been influenced by Mondrian and Hockey.
These stunning steel and glass skyscrapers have all been built in my lifetime and contrast so dramatically with my early life in rural England. This, I am sure, has contributed to why I hold Hong Kong in such considerable awe. Michael Graves, the celebrated American architect, talked of seeing buildings 'not as truth, but as invention'. It is in this context that I have captured the city through photography.
