Cornelia ERDMANN

Cornelia Erdmann was born and brought up in Frankfurt, Germany. She studied and/or worked in England, Switzerland, Japan and Germany, and received a MA degree in architecture in and an MFA in Public Art from Bauhaus- University Weimar, Germany.

In 2006 she moved to Hong Kong. She is an artist, she curates and designs with a passion for aesthetics. In her projects she is mainly interested in the interaction of space and society, scrutinising aspects of urbanity and life style – always bearing a small smile along the way. She is a multitasking visual artist hybrid and loves to work between the fields of applied jobs and art projects as long as they are creative.

Her works have been shown in international galleries, film festivals and exhibitions, such as in Kunstraum Bethanienand Gallery Sleeping Dogs, Berlin, Gallery Threewalls, Chicago, Fondazione Bevilacqua, Venice, Toyota Municipal Museum of Art, Toyota, Blue Lotus Gallery, Hong Kong, Jendela Art Space, Singapor or in the KunstFilm Biennale at the Art Cologne.

Her work is collected around the world by private and corporate artlovers.

Cornelia Erdmann "Goods (Shodoshima x Hong Kong)"

15 pierced drawings on 15 red plastic lamp shades. The artwork installation Goods is a series of lamp shades with pierced hole drawings of the goods of Shodoshima. The concept is to bring Hong Kong to Japan and merge the two cultures. Some lamp shades were placed in cafe that sells Chinese tea and special Hong Kong delicacies.
